Cerebrolysin
Overview
Unlike the single synthetic peptides elsewhere on this list, Cerebrolysin is a peptide preparation: a mixture of naturally derived neuropeptides and amino acids intended to mimic the effects of neurotrophic factors. It has the longest clinical history of anything in this category, with decades of use and study outside the U.S. for stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive decline.
