BPC-157 vs. TB-500: What's the Difference?
If you’ve spent any time reading about recovery-focused peptides, you’ve seen BPC-157 and TB-500 mentioned together constantly: they’re the backbone of stacks like GLOW, KLOW, and the Wolverine Stack. They get paired so often that it’s easy to assume they’re interchangeable. They’re not: they’re structurally unrelated compounds studied for overlapping but distinct effects, which is a big part of why they’re used together rather than as substitutes for each other.
Where each one comes from
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide based on a fragment of a protein found naturally in human gastric juice, where it’s thought to help protect and heal the stomach lining. TB-500 is a synthetic version of a fragment of Thymosin Beta-4, a protein found throughout the body’s tissues generally, with no particular tie to the gut.
What each is specifically studied for
BPC-157’s research focus is broad but leans heavily toward gut healing, tendon and ligament repair, and anti-inflammatory effects. It’s also one of the few peptides discussed for both injected and oral use, because of that gut-specific angle: an oral route doesn’t make much sense for most peptides, but it fits BPC-157’s proposed mechanism.
TB-500’s research focus centers on actin regulation (the protein scaffolding cells use to physically move), which is thought to support how cells migrate to and repair damaged tissue more broadly across muscle, tendon, and other soft tissue. It doesn’t carry the same gut-specific angle BPC-157 does.
Why they’re stacked together
The two are frequently combined because their proposed mechanisms are complementary rather than redundant: BPC-157’s broad tissue-protective and gut-healing effects alongside TB-500’s role in cell migration and tissue remodeling. That’s the entire logic behind the Wolverine Stack, which pairs just the two of them, and it’s why both also show up as the shared foundation of GLOW and KLOW, which build on the same pairing with GHK-Cu for skin and, in KLOW’s case, Kisspeptin.
